About the Project

The Data & Dragons Project was started as part of a CAS Project for the IB Diploma.

The goals of this survey were:
-to investigate preferred forms of role-playing games (RPGs)
-to investigate players' favorite aspects of RPGs in order to explore the appeal of such games
-to investigate how RPGs connect to players' universal experiences, such as personal lifestyle and connecting with other people

The survey also collected basic demographic information in order to realistically assess how the findings could be extended to other people.  The scientific rigour of the project was highly debatable, as the sample size was based on people involved in a club created as part of the project and others known by the founders of the club.  The higher purpose of the survey was to collect some information that could be used to start a conversation about the draw and the benefits of playing role-playing games that could possibly apply to other communities and was not meant to be exhaustive.

Parent permission was obtained for all survey-takers under the age of 18.
